It’s a dish that carries a legacy of tradition, passed down through generations, and now, you can recreate it in your own kitchen.

  • 4 lbs of chicken pieces (drumsticks, thighs, and wings)
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

  1. Place the chicken pieces in a bowl and pour the buttermilk over them. Let them soak for at least an hour in the refrigerator.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Remove a piece of chicken from the buttermilk, letting the excess drip off, then coat it with the flour mixture, pressing the flour onto the chicken.
  4. Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a heavy-bottomed pot to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Carefully add the coated chicken pieces to the hot oil and fry in batches, turning occasionally, until the chicken is deeply golden and crispy, and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  6. Place the fried chicken on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
  7. Serve the Crispy Fried Chicken hot and enjoy the perfect blend of textures and flavors.
